Laparoscopic pericardial fenestration for malignant pericardial effusion.

چکیده
A Laparoscopic means of treating malignant pericardial effusion is implemented and compared with other approaches for management of this condition. Laparoscopic pericardial fenestration was performed in a 68 year old man with bronchogenic carcinoma and recurrent pericardial effusion. . The procedure tool 45 minutes and no complications were observed. We feel that laparoscopic transdiaphragmatic pericardial fenestration is an alternative to percutaneous drainage in the management of malignant pericardial effusion. Irn. PRIMARY MALIGNANT PERICARDIAL MESOTHELIOMA
Primary malignant neoplasms of the pericardium are rare and are predominantly mesotheliomas, followed by benign localized fibrous mesothelioma, malignant fibrosarcoma, angiosarcoma and benign and malignant teratomas. 1 This article concerns an atypical presentation of this malignant tumor with symptoms and signs of pericardial effusion. This unusual feature was complete encasement of the h...
متن کاملEndoscopic pericardial fenestration for a patient with sustained lupus pericarditis.
A 57-year-old woman was diagnosed in January 1982 with SLE based on ANA 1:640, positive LE cell preparation, proteinuria (3+), and pericarditis. In 1984, 1994, and 1997, the pericardial effusion was noted to have increased without signs of disease exacerbation or cardiac tamponade, and pericardial drainage was repeated to control the effusion. A massive pericardial effusion developed in August ...
متن کاملMediastinoscope-controlled parasternal fenestration of the pericardium: definitive surgical palliation of malignant pericardial effusion
BACKGROUND The tumorous infiltration or carcinosis of the pericardium could cause pericardial effusion in up to one-third of cases of malignancy, thus potentially interfere with the otherwise desirable oncological treatment. The existing surgical methods for the management of pericardial fluid are well-established but are not without limitations in the symptomatic relief of malignant pericardia...
متن کاملLesson of the month 1: Pericardial mass and cardiac tamponade associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae primarily causes respiratory tract infections. Extrapulmonary manifestations are seen in 20-25% of cases. Cardiac involvement is rarely reported. We present a unique case of a pericardial mass and cardiac tamponade associated with a Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. This required emergency pericardial fenestration. The patient improved dramatically postoperatively on antibi...

Aspiration and biopsy of pericardium were reported as chronic pericarditis as well. In her thi...
